You had the stacks of Martha Stewart magazines and Ida Garten cookbooks. Those domestic goddesses seemed like they had the answers we needed to be the wives and moms we wanted to be.
Well, after numerous embarrassing recipe fails, and even more discarded DYI projects, you felt like a failure. No one told you how hard mothering and home-keeping is while working fulltime.
Let me say it again, “it’s hard to be a wife and mom.”
Babies, housework, spreadsheets, and conference calls. Planning birthday parties, scheduling carpools, and 3-day business trips. Plus, a million other things overwhelmed me. I’ve got three kids, and whether I’m at home with them or at work, life is never calm or balanced. If you’re like me, you’ve had moments where you felt tired and overwhelmed. Do you drag yourself to bed and night? Toss and turn suffering with mom guilt? Me too!
My breaking point came when I was late picking up my son from football practice. When I arrived at the park, the sun had set, and the park was empty, my middle schooler was standing by himself. I was crushed.
After I recovered (sort of) and realized I couldn’t be everything to everyone, I asked my husband for help and an honest conversation. Together, we took a step back and talked about what matters most—our family. We began intentionally focusing on what’s most important and found ways to simplify — everything!
Domestic Goddessery is my corner of the world devoted to simplifying. I will help you slow down and be the mom you want to be. Let’s make homemade meals, snuggle in cozy homes, plan easy entertaining, enjoy special holidays without hassle, and strengthening our families with shared memories.
Join me on this journey to bring the important people in your life together and create memories.
